Nanette Simon Cook is a mother of five grown children, a respected community leader and teacher with 33 years of experience. Nanette has taught at all levels, from elementary school to university, in public and private schools. She presently teaches Physical Education at Cathedral-Carmel. In addition to teaching, Nanette Cook works as a fitness, nutrition and wellness instructor at the Lourdes Fitness Center. She previously worked at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital as a Prevention and Wellness Activity Coordinator, and after school children’s program director in 2004-2005. She previously worked as a Fitness Specialist / Health Educator from 1996 to 2004. Nanette earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Health and Physical Education from LSU in 1980. She earned a Master of Science Degree in Health and Physical Education from USL in 1988. Nanette graduated from Our Lady of Fatima High School in 1976. Nanette’s father, Al Simon served on the Lafayette City Council in the late 1980’s and early 1990’s. Nanette was inspired by his love for Lafayette and public service. Nanette and her husband David have been married for 32 years. They have five grown children -- Clare, Emily, John, Christopher and Eleanor. They are Parishioners at St. John the Evangelist. |
